Such a nice / an ice guy!

I got to know Chris when we were introduced by a mutual glaciology friend and we got to work together on a paper looking at fracture in an ice shelf in Antarctica. Chris was stunningly smart and great to work with - I felt lucky to just be part of the team, but Chris made me feel like an integral cog. When work took me through Longyearbyen a couple summers later, Chris made sure he was available to be a host and take me out for a hike. Even though it was years, it felt like we had seen each other the week before. Generous with his time, his knowledge, and his smile, I'm glad I got to know Chris even just a little bit.
