In Share Your Memories
We were blessed to have Borstad’s as neighbors on Bonita Ave and got to see Chris grow up. Some memories of Chris are washing his first car- over and over again- he was so proud. Jimmy and I will never forget when Chris dyed his hair blue one week and then pink the next – a bold move with his well-behaved studious character. It was the beginning of many risks and adventures that he experienced throughout his life. One adventure was when Jimmy got to climb LongsPeak with Chris, Stacey, and Ted.
Chris went from not knowing what he wanted career-wise in college to a specific focus on studying snow- combining his love for science and the outdoors. We were awe struck to watch the videos of him and the community in Svalbard, Norway and learn how he was living his passion and experiencing life in ways that few others would ever attempt. I appreciated his attentiveness whenever I talked with him, his love of life, humility, brilliance, and honesty about the challenges of brain cancer. I will always cherish the last time I saw Chris, doing something he loved- riding his bike.
