I met Chris when I did my PhD at UNIS on Svalbard. I remember him as very kind and fun guy. I never will forget our lovely kayak trip from Barentsburg back to Longyearbyen. We hitched a boatride to Barentsburg with our kayaks, it was Chris, me, David who also worked at UNIS, and Joey from Sportsenteret. We slept one night in the hostel in Barentsburg and packed the kayaks the next morning and paddled along the coast to Colesbay where we stayed in the cabin Bikkjebu two nights, since the weather picked up a little and condition on the fjord were a bit sketchy. We had a lovely time in Colesbay, went for a hikes, played Viking chess with random firewood from the shed and had good conversations. The last day stretch from Colesbay to Adventfjorden was quite long but the weather was nice and we made a break at Grumantby from which is the picture is below.
